Our anniversary falls about 3 weeks after Christmas. Because of that, we haven't been able to do anything big for it. Bryan does do a GOOD job of always making that day alittle different than an ordinary day, buying flowers or taking me out to eat, so I'm in no way complaining! So this year, we decided not to get anything for each other for Christmas, and put some money toward our anniversary. I love suprises. Bryan came to me a couple of days later and said he had one for our anniversary, he was getting a babysitter (Thank you Mom and Dad Kurty!!!), and it was for two nights!! You can only imagine my excitement!! :-) Time took FOREVER to get to the day of our anniversary :-) lol
There is one more thing you need to understand. My husband is very nostalgic! Sometimes late at night I will find him looking thru his high school and college yearbooks, he loves to go back and visit memories, whether by talking about them or physically going to them. He loves history and I would call him a history buff :-) lol He knows alot of facts about history! One of the things I love about him is he always tries to make moments special so we can make a memory and talk about it for years to come :-) Another thing is that the first night of our honeymoon was not all it is cracked up to be for us. I was terribly sick the whole day of our wedding and into our honeymoon. I did NOT enjoy our first night as I was sick in the bathroom most of the night. The honeymoon got better once we arrive in Gatlinburg, TN. But that first night, we just had BAD memories from. So, what I kept telling him this whole weekend getaway was, he gave me a do-over. We went to the Bed & Breakfast that we stayed at the first night of our honeymoon, The Carriage Inn Bed & Breakfast in Charles Town, WV!!!!! I will put alittle plug in for them. If you ever have a chance to be in the area, check them out. They are Christains, so kind and gracous and loving, great cooks, the place is VERY clean, neat and orderly. GO, if you can :-)

Something about our anniversary since we have been working at this ministry is the fact that it falls smack in the middle of basketball season. Inevidably there is always a game on our anniversary. This year was no different but we weren't going to let that stop us! When Bryan got home after the away game, we packed up the jeep and headed out for the 2 1/2 hour drive. We arrived late, fell into bed and were able to sleep in for the first time in a very long time!! We took our morning very slow, enjoying to be able to relax with no pressure to do or go anywhere. It was about lunch time we headed to Hagerstown, MD to hit up some of the outlets. There were some gifts I wanted to get, and I just LOVE shopping!!! We went to Olive Garden for supper. It seems like that has become our "go-to" restaurant for everything :-) It is my favorite so we always find some kind of excuse to go, whether its "cuz its Sunday", or "lets celebrate...."

We got back to the B&B and were able to Skype with my mom for her birthday!! That was a treat! Also able to talk thru some things with my dad, as we are trying to figure some things out. My dad is so wise and was able to help a ton! Then watched the Patriots wipe the floor with the Broncos (cuz we don't have cable at our house so it was nice to watch a game and catch up on some news and some shows :-)), Relaxed in the jacuzzi, went to bed.
Slept in again Sunday morning, enjoyed a nice breakfast and checked out by 11. We didn't want to get home super early so we headed back to Hagerstown. I had wanted to try Chipotle Mexican Grill so he ate lunch there. Wow, love me some of that mexican food. Bryan was NOT a big fan, but he suffered thru it for me :-) Got to love him!!! Then we went to Starbucks so Bryan could get some studying done for the Teen Winter Retreat we have coming up next week and I could write this blog before we get back into the swing of things and I find I don't have time to write this :-) It was a fantastic weekend!!! Something that we kept saying this weekend was that it really didn't matter what we did, just that we were together, reconnecting, having some time for just him and me, and focus on each other. I think it is very important for a heathy marrage to do that, espesally during a stressfull time. Thank you, Bryan, for making this weekend happen, for making me feel important and special, and for being my husband!! I LOVE YOU!!!
I didn't know that about Bryan and being so nostalgic. Fits into our family nicely :). I'm so glad you were able to talk with Mum and dad!
ReplyDeleteWe love Chipolte. too bad Bryan doesn't :( But we LOVE those types of places.
It's so true - it doesn't matter what you do - it's just fun to be together. Did you buy much shopping at the outlets?
That is so sweet! I'm glad you guys had a great time!!!! :)
