Mary

This won't be a long blog, my head is jumbled, struggle nailing down my thots. But the message yesterday, Sunday morning by Pastor Ritchey was so good. Nothing added, just the story in Luke 1: 26-38. He is doing a Christmas series as most pastors do during this time and yesterday it was about Mary. This passage and really the Bible doesn't say much about Mary's character when the angel, Gabriel, came to see her. She was probably only between the ages of 13-15 when she became pregnant!! She was betrothed to Joseph and in an engagement period. She was from Galilee, kind of the slums of the Jewish nation. The fact that the Bible doesn't say much about her character, I think, says a lot more than if it did :-). There is so much going on here in this passage! I just start to think about what that must of been like for Mary. She is 13/15 years old, trying to keep up the Jewish laws and get ready to marry Joseph, when all of a sudden an angel appears and tell her she is favore...

Butterflies and Bryan

So the more I thot about this title, the sappyer it sounded. Let me explain: These two words have nothing to do with each other (to throw in alittle sap, yes, I do still get butterflies when he touches me, kisses me, and when he gives me that look), it is only that I have been wanting to do a blog about these two subjests but neither is long enough to write a whole blog about, so I'm combining them. They are just two random thots that jump into my head throughout a week. Butterflies: Growing up I lived in Ecuador so it was only every 4 years or so that I would see my family in the USA. When ever we would go visit my Mom's Mom, Gramie Spence, you could tell that she loved butterflies and she collected them. Now as a teenager, looking at her house I remember thinking, "Gramie has WAY to many butterflies and her house looks tacky, old fashion, and too busy with all the butterflies". Her favorite color was blue too. So there were many rooms filled with blue and butterf...

Aaron turns 3

Image
Back in Feb I wrote a blog for my first born son, Daniel, who was turning 4. I have been really wanting to do the same for my second son, Aaron, since he just turned 3. I was having a hard time feeling inspired to write. Not cuz I was going to write about Aaron but that I hadn't really sat down to think things out to do him justice and thinking how to get across Aaron to you. I have alot going on, in my head mostly, that it has been hard to concentrate. But here it goes, and it will be a tad different in that I'm not putting pictures of his three years but just his party. Aaron is truly a one-of-a-kind kid (I know every mother thinks that about their children, so I guess he fits the mold)!! There is so much about him that I experience in a day. The unique thing about him is that he only lets certain people know his true personality. He is shy at first, staying close to Mommy, Daddy, and Daniel. His biggest desire is security, whether that be found in his Banky,...

Our 4th of July 2012

So I realize that this is very late, like over a week, but I have been wanting to write a blog about our holiday. I have been trying to think why I loved this holiday this year so much. In the midst of my chaotic life and the uncertainty about our future, I was able to disengage, relax, and enjoy family. It was so great to watch my boys play in the pool Grandma had gotten them, talk and catch up with Mom and Dad Kurty, Pap and Bill III, and enjoy good food! It seems to me that there wasn't anything a whole lot different than any other time that we all get together, except my perspective. We watched fireworks go off in the back of Mom and Dad's backyard cuz everyone around us was shooting them off. The boys loved watching them!! It was an encouraging time for this Mama.   It was 95+ degrees that day, so they appreciated the pool! Sky was so hot but wanted to know what was going on They had a great day as well! Aaron trying to cool her off but she did...

Remembering Memories

Image
Most of you know and are involved enough in our life that you know we are going thru a major transition in our life. Bryan has resigned from his position as youth pastor at our church, Foot of Ten Bible Church. Its really not necessary, nor do I want to go into detail about what brought us to this decision. Those that are close to us and care have asked and know the reasons. Let me just say that it was philosophical reasons and we could no longer support the direction the church was headed. Bigger issues too that we weren't willing to compromise on. We are not at odds with the senior pastor, there was just no unity, so it made sense that we step down. If you have further questions, please come and talk to us, we do want to keep that open! That said and out in the open, our whole life begins to change! Everything that I have known about our married life and my kids life has been at this church and in this house. By leaving this job, we lose not only our way of life but al...

Busy, Busy, Busy

So it has been awhile since I last wrote, like Feb. I have a couple blogs in mind but I need to just take the time to sit and write them. SO much has happened since I wrote about my son. We have taken a few huge trips, one in March to Minnisota for a good friends wedding and one in May to Wisconsin, back to Northland, for my brothers graduation. We also had a youth activity in April to the Creation Museum. All of these trips have been different from each other and so good for our family. Tho it has put a real financial strain on us to take these trips b/c our income doesn't allow for any extras, they have been SO good for our family and times to reconnect. The trip in March was so fun to see old and new friends. It was an extremely long trip but one that we wouldn't of missed. Caleb and Julianne are true definition of a real honest to goodness friendship that will last for a lifetime. What just happened to be a bonus about that trip was that we made the trip a day longer and i...
