Swimming Lessons

When I joined the YMCA in our area, I knew they offered swimming lessons and I knew I wanted to get Danny into it. I just couldn't figure out when. This summer was busy and i knew we couldn't commit to several weeks in a row. But things slowed down in the month of Oct, at least during the week, the weekends are still busy. So, the first day was nervous and i could tell he was very unsure. I just kept trying to be excited. It was kind of funny to watch him try to match my excitment but then having concern written all over his face :-) He has done GREAT since the first day!! It has been SO neat to see him take this on and really have it become apart of his life. Ever since i was young, I have really enjoyed swimming! I wanted to give him that oppertunity. I have been swimming for as long as I remember. But I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to break it down enough for me to go back to the basics and teach him. Plus, some things are better taught by someone else. I didn't want to get mad or frustrated with him if he couldn't get it and then have him not enjoy it. It has been the complete opposite and he LOVES it! So they have it set up in sessions. Each session is about 6 to 7 weeks long. He just finished his first session and learned pool rules, kicking, kicking and blowiing bubbles, jumping in and kicking, floating on his back, blowing bubbles, introducing the scissor kick, saftey, reach/throwing assists. They gave me a paper to keep track of what he is learning :-) I'm so proud of my little swimmer!! He just keeps growing up on me :-)

P.S. Pictures to come later if I can post them up later. My tablet or Bryan's computer are unable to load pictures. So, for now, all my blogs won't have pictures so you will have to go to my Facebook account if you want to see pictures of the things i talk about :-/ Sorry!

  2. I'm so glad you have him involved in swimming. It is something you always loved and did so well at. I bet he will be a GREAT swimmer, just like his mother! What a great opportunity!
